Chotam fully supports the sending of alerts to your email addresses, and it may seem like the easiest way to go… However, we recommend using Telegram instead. Why?
Email services and internet service providers are constantly struggling to combat spam, and sometimes it can interfere with the delivery of legitimate emails. Have you ever found an email from a friend or colleague in your 'spam' folder? Normally you are able to control what is considered to be spam through the use of mail rules. However, it is possible that because of corporate or institutional spam filters set on your computer or your company’s network, mail rules may be out of your control and it is possible that some legitimate emails from Chotam will be placed into your spam or junk folders.
Another issue with email is speed. In some environments, email clients may be configured to only check for email occasionally, such as every 15 minutes, which could delay the receiving of comment alerts to your inbox. And, as you know, in the world of social media networks, speed is paramount!
Chotam recommends Telegram as the preferred alert 'vehicle' to use with Chotam for a couple more reasons. No one, except you, can automatically block incoming messages. There is no longer any risk of missing alerts because they are placed into your Spam folder - Telegram doesn’t have one.
Also, Telegram has a feature called a 'channel' to which you can invite your friends or colleagues to join. Sending comment alerts from Chotam to a channel that you create will broadcast the alert to everyone subscribed to this channel, so all your team will receive it and the one who is available, can deal with it.
Although Telegram was originally created for use with smartphones, it also can be used with personal computers. Telegram is a fast, simple and intuitive messenger service delivering alerts to you in practically real-time. We highly recommend you give it a try!
